Evaluating & Selecting Texts

With the overwhelming variety of texts that are available for every curriculum area, it can be difficult to select the most effective and most appropriate text for your students. I’ve come across a nice checklist that allows anyone to evaluate potential texts to determine which ones are best for the curriculum while also being well written and incorporating effective reading strategies for students. This checklist is useful for examining the books and supplementary materials that are currently used in your teaching as well as examining books and materials that you might adopt in the future. You can also share this information with your children (depending on their age) and involve them in the selection of texts too.
